ROCKHAMPTON: “Rockhampton Heritage Village” will step you back in time at this friendly township museum showcasing the rich, colourful history of the Rockhampton district 1850- 1950’s. Throughout your visit at the Rockhampton Heritage Village you will see vintage vehicles, a hall of clocks, timber cutters camp, a blacksmith shop, homesteads and cottages, vintage machinery and a range of friendly farm animals. The charming Shearing Shed of yesteryear with modern facilities is built in the style of a woolshed and is a popular venue for hosting large conferences, functions, wedding receptions, graduations and formal dinners.

ROCKHAMPTON: “Archer Park Rail Museum” features a restored Purrey Steam Tram, one of nine tramcars and six trailers that operated in Rockhampton from 1909 to 1939, and Queensland Government Railways operations in Central Queensland. It has a state-of-the-art soundscape and life-like mannequins that take you back to World War II times. The museum is handicapped-accessible, has a station tearoom and great parking.

ROCKHAMPTON: “Mt Archer National Park” is approximately 9 km north-east of Rockhampton’s city centre. The Darumbal Aboriginal people welcome you to their traditional country and ask that you respect and enjoy this special place. The park covers 4250 nectares of open forest and woodland communities dominated by eucalypts and provides spectacular views of Rockhampton city, deeply incised valleys, dry rainforests, fleeting glimpses of forest inhabitants and feasting cockatoos feature strongly. It has a 500 m wheelchair-accessible circuit past two lookouts. Wheelchair-accessible toilets and picnic tables are also provided. Camping is not allowed, but two sealed access roads invites a short drive from Rockhampton to explore Mount Archer’s summit from the easy Bracken Fern Way 1.4km return walk to Grasstree Lookout, to the difficult Zamia Walk – 14 km one-way descent from the Top of Mount Archer, through the national park to the park’s lower entrance. Pets are not permitted in the Mt Archer National Park. Commercial photography permits are required if intention is to sell them. Rubbish must be taken with you. Native animals not to be fed and no mountain bikes, trail bikes and all-terrain vehicles to be taken into the park.
